| DETAILS: | Take a journey from South African beginnings, Middle Passage, the Slave Trade, Plantation Life, to the Underground Railroad and Freedom Seekers. Historical Significance and Exhibits The museum was founded by Carolynn and Sylvia Wilson and documents the history of Black settlers and their descendants in the Collingwood/Owen Sound areas and key northern terminals of the Underground Railroad. Visitors can explore 16+ buildings and outdoor exhibits across approximately 11 acres, offering a living history experience of rural Black pioneer life. Exhibits cover slavery, the Underground Railroad, community building, and civil rights, with artifacts, photographs, historical documents, quilts, and recreated historical structures. The museum’s displays emphasize the resilience, achievements, and cultural heritage of Black Canadians in Ontario. THIS IS A WALK ABOUT MUSEUM.
