Chris Allum and Allister Field Of the Ontario Securities Commission will be speaking to us on March 8th to help us know what questions to ask before you invest and the warning signs of fraud. They will address the most commonly expressed concerns about investment fraud, what an advisor is responsible for, lack of understanding of fees paid to advisors and investment performance, restitution, outliving savings and losing money, and dealing with unexpected events that could impact retirement.

Chris is Senior Advisor, Investor Engagement and Stakeholder Partnerships at the Ontario Securities Commission. She is an engaging speaker who has experience in community outreach and adult training. Her education includes a Bachelor of Commerce degree, the Canadian Securities Course, and an adult training and development certificate from the University of Toronto.

Allister Field is Manager of the Enforcement support team. Previously Allister served with the Toronto Police Service for 22 years in a variety of uniform and investigative roles, ten of those years as a Fraud Investigator. Allister was a part time member of the faculty for the Police Sciences Program at Sheridan College where he taught the Fraud Investigations course. Prior to his policing experience Allister Studied Social Work at Ryerson University and worked as a residential counsellor with developmentally challenged adolescents.
